Cupping is an ancient somatic practice of lifting tissues to create space and move fluids in the tissues through the use of glass or plastic cups that suction body tissue into the vacuum of the cup created by pump or machine (traditionally fire was used to create the suction). Movement of lymph fluid, blood and other stagnant fluids out of the area being cupped creates greater range of motion and healthier tissues.
CBD salves used topically in massage therapy can be added to most massage modalities and are used to aid in pain relief. Always used with a clients informed consent, CBD is another tool that I have found helps relieve next day soreness from deeper massage therapy techniques. Gua She is a traditional Chinese healing method often paired with massage. a smooth edged flat stone is scraped along your skin. I heat mine for added benefit as this technique is often used for chronic pain and releasing fascial adhesions.
A relaxing and rejuvenating alternative to massage therapy is a hydrating wrap. You will be cacooned in a soft warm blanket and each arm and leg as well as the back will individually be removed from the cocoon to do a light skin scrub with a loofa followed by an application of a hydrating body butter. After the scrub and body butter application you will be fully cocooned agin and a scape massage administerd for the remaining time of your 50 minute wrap!
Connective tissue/ myofascial, lymphatic drainage and oncology massage are all modalities I have received informal or introductory training in.
